Wine on flights.
Flew to Tokyo on Wednesday. I never ever consume alcohol on flights, especially long hauls. I was having troubles sleeping (J class seat of death) and selected several outstanding glasses of wine from the list.
Sauvestre Chablis Beauroy Premier Cru
Chateau Bonalgue Pomerol
Penfolds Shiraz
All delicious and I highly recommend.
However, consuming the alcohol backfired and I was up almost 28 hours straight.
I don't recommend alcohol consumption on any flight.

I do great with wine in flight. The same cannot be said for Jack Daniels which unfortunately is my favorite hard liquor. When I flew DUS-DTW on Feb 21st I had some white wine to go with my lunch. It worked out well. I was actually able to get a little sleep.
Worst thing however was when I decided to have some Jack after that. I started feeling sick. Some alcohol is ok. I think mixing it in flight is a huge mistake.

I used American on LHR-LAX in June and was told no room to upgrade. Upon moving into the a/c a flight attendant saw my crew tags and photo ids. "Are you with FedEx?" I told her unfortunately, which she replied, "We love you guys, I've got a seat in business for you!" I again went again protocol on my part and accepted her generous offer of a pre-take off adult beverage. She brought me a cold can of Pepsi and two mini Jack bottles. I downed both before we took off. This is an acception to the rule - I had no problems during flight.
