Greetings

Greetings. I'm Indy. I have no life. So here I am. I'm a geek and I'll hopefully be attending culinary school this coming fall. I've spend most of my life working on computers and I really want a change.

Hi Indy! I have no life either. I hate calling myself a geek, but I guess by definition that's what I am since I'm almost ALWAYS on a computer. It's how I make my living and it's also what I do in my spare time.

In the IT world, I have found that a lot of us "geeks" are into cooking. I think it's therapeutic in a way to go into the kitchen and do something non-technical and create something tasty. But the tech side of me wants to know the deeper science behind food prep and technique.

I haven't been able to find a decent source of information in one place... until now!

Drew! Great to see you. When do you head off to China? Can you take some pictures of what authentic Chinese cuisine looks like while you are on the road?

Happy Birthday Zole.

Hi, this is Musty. AKA Mustela Nigripes.

I am too lazy to cook very often, so I eat out a lot. I do not do fast food though unless it is a last resort. Meaning I eat at a fast food joint maybe 6 times a year. Eating out is my form of entertainment. Almost anywhere I eat, I know the people working there, so it is like going to visit friends for dinner.

I have two great accomplishments food-wise. I will eventually post these when I find the appropriate thread, or create it.

I guess this is a little bit more formal...

Well my name is Alex, I work for Whole Foods, and since i've been with them, i've really gotten deeper into cooking. I love making different spaghetti recipes, cooking with alcohol and making soups.

I know quite a bit about veggies and fruits so anyone has questions about seasonality or flavor i'm a resource.

I love Whole Foods, it's my main place to shop for food, but we only have one here where I live but I don't mind driving for it, it's worth it. I pretty much like everything from their 365 brand. I also hear it's a good company to work for as well.

oooo ooo ooo!! And I also really dig the new shopping bags you can buy for a buck and reuse.. for all you hippies out there ;)

Hello all. :) Indy linked here from EvoXForums and I'm a bit of a foodie who lives online so I decided to check it out. I've never bought a cookbook because it's so much more convenient for me to look up recipes online and then try them out. I try to stick to recipes that are less than 500 calories a serving and have lots of flavor. :-D Not a beer drinker here, but I do like my wine and rum.
